Goalkeepers:

Ronnie Kanalelo (51) - Sundowns, SA. Nicknamed The Magnet, the inspirational goalkeeper is the country's most-capped player who since his 11 October 1992 debut against Madagascar in a 0-3 World Cup loss never looked back.

Danzyl Bruwer (6) - Civics, Nam. Made his debut in a friendly against Lesotho which Namibia lost 1-2 in Maseru on November 1 1997 but since being given another chance against Zimbabwe in a Cosafa Castle Cup away match April last year, has improved dramatically. Was Namibia's hero in a Cosafa Cup 1-1 tie against Zambia and was named man of the match in that encounter. Destined for a professional career very soon.

Defenders:

Bimbo Tjihero (34) - Liverpool, Nam. Made his debut for Namibia in a friendly 1-0 away win against Botswana on July 1 1994. His most significant achievement was the piledriver equalising goal against SA in the 1998 Cosafa Cup preliminary round match which Namibia won 3-2.

Stanley Tiger Goagoseb (36) - Civics, Nam. Oldest player in the squad, who made his debut in 1992 against a Kalusha Bwalya-led Zambia in Lusaka. A very important man-marker and key to the team's success who also scored Namibia's  first goal against SA and his only goal so far.

Sylvanus Ndjambari (20) - Black Africa, Nam. Made his debut against Botswana in a 1-0 win in July 1994 when a bunch of youngsters came through the junior ranks. Has struggled to regain his place since coming back from a one year injury lay-off but might have done just enough against Ivory Coast in a recent 1-1 draw to deserve starting line-up.

Rodney Doeseb (5) - Chief Santos, Nam. A Mlungisi Ngubane finding. Started for the first time against Angola in a 1-1 Cosafa Cup draw on May 30 1998 and has since been rewarded with several call-ups for his sterling performances. A key defender in the new Nam side.

Stephen Mbaisa (1) - African Stars, Nam. Made his debut on April 23 1995 as a sub against Mali in a 0-2 African Nations Cup loss but has yet to play his way into the team.

Oscar Tjikurunda (0) - Life Fighters, Nam. A recently promoted hard-working under-23 defender. Part of the team mainly to pick up experience after his good work against Nigeria's U-23's.

Midfielders:

Collin Benjamin (6) - Civics, Nam. Another Mlungisi Ngubane finding of April 19 1998 against Zimbabwe. The U-23 captain has also established himself in the senior team with dazzling runs down the right flank. Earmarked for an European transfer very soon.

Ricardo Mannetti (49) - Santos, SA. Made his debut on October 25 1992 as a 17 year old. Very skillful and one of the stars of the team but has been affected by lack of match practice because of his dispute with Santos where he had not played for a year. Looking for his 50th cap against the Bafana Bafana.

Johannes Congo Hindjou (34) - Liverpool, Nam. The young Okahandja lad started his international career three years ago and has since scored seven goals, including a brace in a 2-1 upset victory over Zimbabwe in a Cosafa Castle Cup preliminary two years ago. Had gone to Europe and SA for trials but came back due to homesickness. Still hoping for a contract in Europe.

Simon China Uutoni (19) - Liverpool, Nam. The unsung hero of Namibian football since he made his debut on April 6 1997 against Tunisia in a World Cup outing. Scored only in his second match and has since had goals against SA and Malawi. One of the workhorses of the team who hardly gets the deserved praise.

Sylvester Goraseb (45) - Black Africa, Nam. Very popular and hardworking midfielder who unfortunately had to forego an early career in Germany due to studies. Graduated with an economics degree last year and is scheduled for trials with two unnamed teams in Turkey soon.

Robert Nauseb (25) - Kaizer Chiefs, SA. Undoubtedly Namibia's most exciting player and joint top scorer last year with four goals. A troublesome right winger whose talents were quickly spotted by Chiefs with whom he won the Rothmans Cup but missed on the treble last season. Scored both winning goals against Malawi to book Namibia's place in the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.

Quinton Jacobs (7) - Partick Thistle, Scotland. Nicknamed "Magic" the former U-19 player has proven to be a tough competitor and was named man of the match against Congo. Recently rejected offers from Ajax, Anderlecht and Fenerbache to sign with Scottish Second Division side Partick Thistle.

Nico Nicodemus (0) - Liverpool, Nam. Stylish young sensation who is still being groomed to carry the flag. Star of Namibia's U-23 team against Nigeria in a 3-2 win.

Patrick Kontwane (0) - Civics, Nam. Another U-23 who was included mainly to pick up experience.

Strikers:

Elifas Shivute (31) - Shenzhen, China. Joint top scorer last year with four goals, the speedy winger is the player to watch in the Namibian camp. Though he is well aware of his status in the team, Safa will never let it go to his head and he still remains the very humble and down-to-earth young man who once gave up soccer and became a diamond miner. Recently a leading goalscorer in the Chinese top league also.

Floris Diergaardt (2) - Young Ones, Nam. Though still playing under 19 soccer he made a sterling debut against Ivory Coast in a 1-1 June 5 1999 draw at the Independence stadium. Torments opposition defence with his spacing and is good in the air. Should be going abroad very soon.

Razundara Tjikuzu (10) - Werder Bremen, Germany. Though still a junior, Rassie is one of the most experienced players in the team and a freekick specialist. Mostly being used as a playmaker.

Ruben van Wyk - Black Africa, Nam. Currently leading goal-scorer in Namibian league. Had been a regular in the national side until Namibia managed to qualify for the African Nations Cup held in Burkina Faso early last year.

Coach:

Peter Ueberjahn - Germany
Played 13 Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 7 GF 13 GA 28
"Corporal" adds the German determination to the team. Also being used to identify talent at junior level where he assists.

Gervatius Uri-Khob 10
Eliphas Shivute 9
