Mover of the Year: DR Congo

DR Congo jumped 10 places to 10th following a 3rd place finish in the African Nations Cup.

Loser of the Year: Gabon

By August, Gabon had lost a huge 11 places from 12th to 23rd after 12 months of inactivity and could only recover to 20th place after winning all three of their matches in the 2000 African Nations Cup Qualifying group stage.

Other Notables:

Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea and Sao Tome e Principe made their debuts in the rankings.
