Loser of the Year: Namibia
Namibia dropped 9 places to 38th for their lowest ever ranking after suffering 6 losses out of 8 matches played this year and 14 from 16 since mid-June 2001.
  
Other Notables:
Guinea, Rwanda and Benin all gained 7 places following collective qualification for the African Cup of Nations Finals and the World Cup Qualifying group rounds.
Libya gained 7 places to 17th for their highest ranking ever following qualification for the World Cup Qualifying group rounds.
Equatorial Guinea gained 7 places to 44th for their highest ranking ever following wins against Gabon, Togo and São Tomé e Príncipe.
Mali re-entered the African Top Ten after a 5-year absence having recorded 11 wins and 1 draw in their last 12 matches.
Egypt jumped to 2nd place with 8 wins in their last 9 matches.
Madagascar dropped 8 places to 30th after failing to register a win in their last 12 matches played this year.
