Senegal gained 9 places to 2nd after reaching the quarterfinals of the World Cup and a second-place finish in the African Nations Cup.
  
Loser of the Year: Namibia
Namibia dropped 10 places to 29th after losing all four matches played - Botswana (twice), Swaziland and Algeria.
  
Other Notables:
Cameroon became No.1 in Africa for the first time after capturing the African Nations Cup without losing a single match.
They replaced Tunisia who dropped to 7th from the top spot they had held for 7 months - they did not win all year in 14 attempts.
Mali gained 9 places to 14th after finishing fourth in the African Nations Cup and achieving promising results in the 2004 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
